Just a few details about the Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County
|
The Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County is an all
volunteer, not-for-profit organization that depends on
donations and fund raising events to operate.
We are a no-kill facility. Most of the animals who come to us
come from the local Animal Shelter. We rescue those animals
and nurse them back to health and then look to give those
animals good, loving homes like yours. The Humane Society
originated in 1923.
The primary goals are to provide help to animals in Decatur &
Macon County that are abandoned, abused, neglected and to
reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs
and community education.
While the Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County works
with all animal welfare organizations for the benefit of the
animals and is supportive of the Macon County Animal Control
and Care Facility, the Humane Society is a separate entity.
It is the belief of our Board of Directors that the key to pet
overpopulation is spaying and neutering. There are not
enough homes for all the unwanted animals in our community.
